EQUINE PARK - CORNELL UNIVERSITY 1. NOTIFICATION: The mare owner agrees to notify the stallion owner on the first day of heat in the cycle in which the mare is to be bred; and, not less than 36 hours prior to the time that the mare is to be bred, to again notify the stallion owner of the desired time of breeding. The mare must be examined by the mare owner's veterinarian between 18 and 35 days after the last insemination, and, if not in foal, the mare owner shall notify the stallion owner that additional shipment(s) of semen are required. 2. COLLECTION AND SHIPMENT: The stallion owner agrees to cause viable semen from the stallion to be collected, prepared and shipped to the mare owner for arrival on the day requested. In the event of an airline strike, severe weather, illness or injury to the stallion, or any other unforseen conditions preventing timely shipment of semen, the stallion owner will make every effort to provide semen on the date requested, but shall not be responsible for any condition preventing said delivery. Semen will be shipped by Federal Express. The mare owner will be required to provide a Federal Express account number or a credit card number before any shipments are sent. 3. INSEMINATION: The mare owner agrees that it is his/her responsibility to have this mare, AND ONLY THIS MARE, inseminated by a qualified veterinarian and to discard any unused semen. 4. RETURN OF CONTAINER" The mare owner agrees to return the container at his/her expense by an express service or pay a late return fee of $20.00 for each day that the container has not been returned, allowing four days from the date of breeding to have the container returned to the stallion owner. 5. ADDITIONAL COLLECTION AND HANDLING FEES: In the event that the mare does not ovulate or does not become pregnant after the first insemination, the mare owner agrees to pay the stallion owner an additional Collection and Handling Fee of $25.00 for each additional shipment of semen. This fee will be required PRIOR TO the next shipment of semen. 6. RETURN SERVICE: In the event the mare does not conceive or does not produce a foal that is born alive, and stands to nurse for twenty-four hours, return privileges are guaranteed. The mare owner may request to: 1) request a return breeding for the same mare or 2) substitute an acceptable mare or 3) request a refund of the breeding fee less the booking fee PRIOR TO THE END OF THE NEXT BREEDING SEASON.
