Per Diem rates are based on items such as animal husbandry (the daily care and maintenance of animals, including activities such as observation, feeding, watering, changing and cleaning cages, maintaining a suitable environment, basic record keeping, census taking, sanitizing animal rooms), supplies (feed, bedding, disinfectants, etc.) and equipment replacement.
